Unlocking Design, Creativity & Justice.

We are a Design Joint. As a 501(c)3 Non-Profit, our work is all around sprerading more goodness in the world. That means working to help folks heal from interlocking systems of oppression, acknowledging the inherent, essential goodness of all, and animating our collective creative genius into action. In this we cultivate communities of belonging, becoming, and infinite possibility. We do this by designing for purpose, meaning, and connection.

Our Design Process.

There are many different variations of "Design Thinking" in both industry and education. While inspired by many, a key component to the work we are trying to further is a keen-eye on "Context." What is the context for learning, for application, for culture.

Thank you to the National Equity Project,  Stanford d.School, and IDEO, the for our primary influences in the design work we do!

“The creative act starts with seeing the world as it truly is.”
-Rick Rubin

Intentional & Consistent Application

Together, we will engage deeply with the powerful modes and mindsets of Liberatory Design, inviting participants to examine the systems we inherit, the power we wield, and the humanity we are called to honor. This journey is about cultivating an enduring organizational culture and developing the leadership practices essential for building courageous solutions both within the organization—and for inspiring this work in others through expertly crafted learning experiences.

Sample Series Outcomes:
    1. Gain an experiential understanding of liberatory design modes, methods, and mindsets and

actively experiment and reflect on the work in organizational life.

organizational capacity to democratize its principles and practices.

Eric Chagala (Ed.D. Educational Leadership) is the founding principal of the Vista Innovation & Design Academy (VIDA). Eric believes that all kids need a place to matter, that our actions say what we believe about children, and that schools have souls & those souls need to be nurtured. Eric’s belief in Design Thinking for education is deeply rooted in his dissertation that focused on the critical resiliency of high achieving LatinX youth. This research solidified the knowledge     (not just belief) that schools have the power to either defeat or to perpetuate the status-quo of a neighborhood. Eric has spoken across North America about Personalized Learning, Design Thinking, and to talk about what it takes to build a true school culture that will be ripe for innovation.

“Empathy is the soul of creativity.”
